Aventis CropScience chose Englishtown as their global English language provider.
|
The client: Aventis CropScience offers a wide range of innovative agricultural products for farmers, distributors and processors in the crop science market. The company was formed by the merger of Rhône-Poulenc Agro and AgrEvo, and has offices in Europe, North and South America, and Asia. |

|
The challenge: After the merger, Aventis CropScience looked for a cost-effective and effective solution to the demand for English language fluency that the new organization faced. "Mastering the professional usage of the English language is of fundamental importance for our employees," says Karin Schwertner, Manager of Human Resources. Communicating in English is part of the daily lives for the employees of this global corporation. However, in traditional training only 47%* of education costs are
apportioned to the actual training fees. The remainder are caused by
continued payment of wages, travel to and from the courses, and
lodging. Aventis CropScience looked for a more economical and
effective form of arranging and providing educational content.

The solution Aventis was quick to establish an internal company e-learning policy. "Over the coming years new media will play a crucial role in our complete business process", says Alain Godard, Aventis CropScience CEO. The new e-learning platform focused on computing and English. After a thorough evaluation process, Aventis CropScience chose Englishtown's completely web-based solution for their English training needs. In addition to its ASP-based solution, Englishtown could also offer a full integration with Aventis learning management system. Aventis's employees can now study English whenever, wherever. "They can brush up their knowledge in the necessary areas, according to their own individual requirements … at a pace which they determine for themselves," says Karin Schwertner. * Source: Personnel Management, "Online-Lernen ist 20 Prozent effektiver", January 2001 |
